Quote Cards

'Quote Cards' is an initiative to visually represent quotes and phrases. It is an humble attempt to help create visually memorable imagery that emphasizes on the meaning of the quote or phrase. Me being a (highly-active) Instagram user, I come across tens of quotes everyday - but I've never been a person who is able to entirely internalize them. After a little thought I realized that my mind tries to create a mental picture whenever words do not seem to suffice. This is an attempt to artistically recreate the images that form in my head, in the hope that it might be easier for others to relate too!

 

I began the process by selecting a few quotes or phrases that I found on the Internet, and tried to translate my mental images into rough sketches. I jotted down points under what exactly I wanted to show (based on my interpretation of the quote), and tried my best to use simple lines, shapes and colors to communicate the same. Choosing the right color palette was an important step, as I wanted the colors to be visually pleasing to the eye, to help make it easier to internalize. Simplicity was key.

I also decided to go a step further and create simple motion graphics for the illustrations to make it more interactive and memorable visual experience.
